Pulmonary Hypertension Unit
Pulmonary hypertension is a serious condition that results in the narrowing and hardening of the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs, with a consequent increase in pulmonary arterial pressure, and symptoms such as chest pressure or pain, palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, or fainting.
The causes can be very diverse, ranging from congenital abnormalities or autoimmune diseases to lung diseases, heart failure and low blood oxygen levels, among others.
In the Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, we carry out examinations to diagnose and treat pulmonary hypertension using a wide range of tests: electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, blood tests, chest X-rays, pulmonary arteriography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, etc. The aim is to control symptoms and prevent lung damage.
