Pulmonary Hypertension Unit
Pulmonary hypertension is a serious condition that results in narrowing and hardening of the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs, with a consequent increase in pulmonary arterial pressure, and symptoms such as chest pressure or pain, palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, or fainting.
The causes can be very diverse, ranging from congenital abnormalities or autoimmune diseases to lung diseases, heart failure, low blood oxygen levels, and others.
In the Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, we carry out the appropriate examinations for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension. The range of tests is broad: electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, blood tests, chest X-rays, pulmonary arteriography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, etc. The aim is to control symptoms and prevent lung damage.
